Many of us are a novice when it comes to abbreviations. God forbid, if it is for the various type of screen we are at a loss.
1. TFT LCD
Also known as Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display. This is the same thing you find on LCD TVs.
2. QVGA
Quarter Video Graphics Array has a resolution of 240×320 pixels, usually found on low-end smartphones.
3. VGA
Video Graphics Array supports 640×480 pixels and is used in medium to large touchscreens.
4. WVGA
Wide Video Graphics Array supports 800×480 pixels, best suited for large screen smartphones.
5. HD Screen
High Definition display supports 1280×720 pixels like most HD TVs.
6. Full HD Display
Full High Definition supports 1920×1080 pixels on a smartphone, like any full HD TV.
7. Retina Display
Seen on Apple’s iPhone 4 first, retina display is an IPS(In Plane Switching) LCD screen that has high pixel density leading to the best in class visibility.
