The Time is Ripe for a Tech-Less Living Room

While we are aware that gadgets will continue to rule our lives in many ways, decor experts around the globe reveal that more families are opting to ditch technology in their living rooms in order to facilitate more quality time. With an overdose of screen time throughout the day, people are consciously making a choice to create a room without digital distractions. They want to bond over meaningful conversations, read a book or enjoy a glass of wine, in peace.

1. Let all seating Face Inwards

Arrange all the chairs and sofas in the room to face each other. This seating encourages talking, sitting, reading, and entertaining. You will now probably communicate face to face and reconnect instead of staring at a screen.

2. Rule of Thumb

When you say you have a digital-free room, it has to be unplugged in the true sense. To help encourage this, ask your family members to leave their phones, tablets, music player in another room. They may grumble at first, but with time they will surely realise that it is very relaxing at the end of the day.

3. Stay Away from Too Many Colours

While the idea is to create a space that de-stresses you after a long day, be careful not to incorporate too many colours in a tech-less space. Stick to a neutral colour palette and use soft, soothing colours. Whites, creams, blues, browns, greys-all make for brilliant choices.
