All of us have had at least one Punjabi friend at some point in our life who has entertained us to our core. They are loud, smart, funny, cute, fun-loving, caring and have an identity that is hard to ignore or hate! Why do we love our Punjabi friends so much? Here are 11 reasons worth reading!
1. Always ready to shake their oversized bums!
Whether it’s their son’s wedding or neighbour’s distant affair function, they are least bothered because all they care about is Honey Singh’s peppy track on the dance floor that lures them even from the washroom!
2. Eat anything to everything with wiggling belly and full volumed burp!
Whether it is Masala Dosa or Butter Chicken with Butter Naan, they relish every bite with same satisfaction and flock every food parlour owing to their ‘foodie’ nature.
3. Have an awesome funny bone!
Punjabis don’t really need an audience to laugh at their jokes. They have an awesome sense of humor and they pull it off with justified confidence!
4. Always willing to lend a helping hand
Not only are they generous souls but also very helpful sometimes going out of their way to pull you out of trouble. Head to Punjab and experience their winning hospitality
5. Have the key to every problem – saanu key
With a happy go lucky kind of attitude, they are the most optimistc people who take everything in their own stride. They will sport a cheerful disposition in the face of difficult times.
6. Are hardcore music lovers and drive at full volumes and lowered windows
You will witness them grooving to senseless melodies and humming ‘height of insanity’ songs and still love them for their carefree and fun streak. They will not evolve, you will develop their taste and you will do it willingly!
7. Those abuses fall on you ears like rosebuds
Punjabis are skilled in using expletives as an effective communication channel. ‘Saale’, ‘Haraamkhor’, ‘Bhen ke’ all sound so friendly and melodious once you befriend a Punjabi. Trust me, these words start sounding more affectionate than the traditional courtesies.
8. Boldness is in their blood
They never shy away from speaking their minds! They are brutally honest and fearlessly take on the adversities whether it is fighting for their friends or claiming their own rights.
9. Have an undying penchant for bult (bullet), Odi(Audi) and Caneda (Canada)
They would prefer bathing their Bult everyday rather than bathing themselves. You can learn all the major car brands from Punjabi songs that centre more on these than any sensible theme. And ofcourse, hear them brag about moving to Canada and living a highly successful life in petrolpumps.
10. Have JBL speakers installed in their throats
The word ‘polite’ doesn’t exist in Punjabi dictionary. They are naturally loud and you can conveniently enjoy a couple’s fight happening across the street.
11. Speak fluently in Punjabified English!
They can leave you in splits when they attempt to speak in glorified English and fall flatly on it. Half of the time, you complete and correct their sentences and together have a hearty laugh when they assassinate the language.
