Mumbai Mirror touched another low when they misquoted Pullela Gopichand’s wife Lakshmi to make a headline. In order to sensationalise a decent interview given by Lakshmi on PV Sindhu’s success and how much hard work her husband had put in for producing two Olympic medalists in badminton.
What Lakshmi had said was, “Sindhu has what I didn’t have back then – my husband as coach.” But what they turned it was, “Sindhu has what I didn’t have – my husband.” Completely omitting ‘as coach‘ from her statement to make the headline sensational as well as misleading.
Twitter is simply furious by what the tabloid has done.
Writer: "We have a quote from Gopichand's wife about what a great coach he is; any headline ideas?"

Lakshmi is herself a shuttler and represented India in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. She now helps her husband run the Badminton academy in Hyderabad.
