Kalki Koechlin’s last commercial film was ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ and according to the actress, the reason for her absence from the mainstream movies is the lack of good roles.
The actress who turned a showstopper yesterday for the ongoing fashion show said that people have a misconception about her that she is choosy with her work.
“I haven’t got any commercial film which I think is important enough to do. I am not choosy, it is just an illusion people have. I have never been picky. Work takes time to come and good work takes even longer,”
Kalki told.
The 33-year-old actress was ‘unapologetic’ about her absence from work and what people think about her.
“It is about being confident. When you are a public figure you have to know what you want and know what you want to put out there. Public image also ends up being your personal image. It is important to know what you stand for.”
The actress said that she respects her celebrity status but would also like to have a break from the spotlight for once in a while.
“It is very important to have my space that is where I prepare for my work. It is like you are a vessel and you are full so you need to empty yourself out somewhere. So you need to empty yourself to fill up with new idea.”
Her next movie is ‘Jiah aur Jiah’ which also stars Richa Chadda.
