This is Incredible! A 21-weeks old unborn baby named Samuel Alexander Armas was operated in his mother’s womb by surgeon Joseph Bruner. When Dr. Bruner completed his surgery on Samuel, the little baby reached his tiny, but fully developed hand through the incision and firmly grasped his surgeon’s finger as if thanking the doctor for the gift of life.
Dr. Bruner said, “When his finger was grasped, it was the most emotional and memorable moment of my life”. The baby was diagnosed with spina bifida and would not survive if he would be removed from his mother’s womb.
During the procedure, the doctor removed the uterus via C-section and made a small incision to operate the baby. Samuel’s mother said, they wept for days when they saw the picture. She said- “The photo reminds us that pregnancy isn’t about disability or an illness, it’s about a little person”.
