Weddings are a fun family affair but sometimes the rituals get on your nerves. You think your culture has the most weird rituals and nothing can beat them. Wait. Don’t be so impulsive. There are traditions that are crazier than yours which will make you think thank God these are not part of our culture. Here are the traditions from around the world that makes wedding a crazy thing.

1. Blackening the Bride: Scotland

It is your wedding and people around you are throwing all kind of disgusting things at you. Annoying? But if we tell you it is a tradition for Scottish brides. This done to signify that if you can handle this you can handle anything, even marriage.

2. Preplanned Crying: China

Tears are something that are a part of wedding but females of the Tujia people in China take matters to a whole new level. The crying starts a month before the wedding. ten days later bride is joined by her mother in crying and another ten days later grand mother comes in. By the end of the month every women in family is crying in different tones as a form of expression of their joy.

3. Marrying a Tree: India

In parts of India women who are manglik are said to be cursed and can be reason for their husband’s untimely death. In order to ward off the curse women are married to a tree and that tree is cut down to end the curse.

4. Beating the groom’s feet: Korea

Before the first night as a married man his feet are beaten with a cane or a fish in Korean traditions. This is done to make sure groom does not disappoint on his wedding night and is more fun than cruel.

5. Kissing feast: Sweden

Whenever bride or groom leaves their table the other gets kissed. A lot. Now this tradition sounds fun!!!

6. Spitting on the Bride: Massai nation, Kenya

Spitting blessings are quite a sight at Massai wedding in Kenya. Here father spits on her daughter’s head and breasts for a happy married life before she leaves the villlage with the groom.

7. Kidnapping the Brides: Romania

Kidnap the girl you want to marry. If she remains by your side for 2-3 days she is officially declared as his wife. This is a crazy Romanian tradition where couples run and marry without consent from parents.

8. Shooting The Bride: China

In Yugur culture of China the groom will shoot his bride with a bow and arrow, without arrowheads, before the wedding. Three times. Once the deed is done, the groom will collect the arrows and break them, thus ensuring that they will love each other forever.

9. Chick Liver Tradition: Inner Mongolia, China

The wedding date in some parts of Mongolia is decided by taking the life of a chick by bride and groom and inspecting its liver. If the liver is not good another life will be taken and the process continues till they find a satisfactory liver of chick.
