We meet so many people in our life but sometimes an encounter with someone just for a few minutes is enough to leave an lifelong impact. Such life changing meetings make us think the bigger purpose of life, why we are here, are we doing something worthwhile for the society?

Such is the story of Jamie-Lynne Knighten. She spent only a few minutes with Matthew Jackson but those moments have become something she treasures. These moments made her think that good people are still there. She was at a local grocery store with her baby. She was struck in the line with crying baby and a credit card which was not working. This was when Matthew came to her rescue and offered to pay her bill of above $200. She thought he was just being polite but when he insisted and told her he would pay only if she will pay him back, she realised he actually meant to help her.

Jamie asked his name and thanked him through grateful tears at that moment. She also came to know that he worked at a nearby gym. A few days later she called the gym to tell them how great and kind their employee was but instead heard the heartbreaking news.

Less than 24 hours later of what he had done he was dead. This good deed was his last. Knighten recalls that her heart was in her throat. It was so heartbreaking to hear that the human being who impacted her and her family was just gone. It was a shock, a complete and utter shock. He just seemed like such a kind soul. She was excited to meet him and thank him for his gesture. But she did not got the chance to do so.

She is now determined to spread his memory and message to the world. Initially she wrote about it on her Facebook page but when she saw the phenomenal response the thought of taking it forward, at a larger scale. She is using the hashtag #MatthewsLegacy on twitter to honour the person Matthew was.

This is a rare example of positive news. People like Matthew and Jamie are those who inspire us become our everyday heroes. The message is catching on and people are doing their share as much as they can to take forward #MatthewsLegacy.
