Karam Chand and Kartari Chand, 110 and 103 respectively, believed to be the world’s oldest married couple alive, celebrated their 90th wedding anniversary on December 11, 2015.
The couple tied the knot on December 11, 1925 in India, and they have been together since. This beautiful couple has a big family- eight children, 27 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. “It is a blessing to have been married and to have lived this long. Life and marriage is all about happiness, it is what is most important. We are happy to have been able to enjoy this day with our family. Occasions such as anniversaries and birthdays see our family come together and that makes us very happy,” Karam Chand told The Sun.
The couple moved to Bradford, England in 1965, and now live with their youngest son Paul and his family. Paul believes the secret to their happy marriage life is “not to argue”.
“Marriage is all about compromise and I believe my parents have had such a long marriage because they have had a happy and stress-free one. In all my years with them, I have never seen them argue and not once have I seen them become angry with each other. I believe that is their secret,” Paul said.
