3 women. 13 countries. 1 car. 97 days. Around 23,000 km to travel. Sounds fun and something from a bollywood movie?
No. It is not a script of some movie. But a journey of three friends who thought of travelling to countries in a car. Only one among them driving took the journey in a Mahindra First Choice Scorpio with no back up vehicle started their journey of determination and passion.
Three women in their mid thirties Nidhi Tiwari, Rashmi Koppar and Dr Soumya Goyal decided to take up a journey from Delhi to London in order to capture the grit of the emerging self-reliant Indian woman. Nidhi was the one driving the car for 97 days almost 600 km daily. She specializes in outdoor education, off-the-road jeeping, long distance and high altitude driving. When she proposed the idea to her friends they were elated to be a part of it. Rashmi is a hotel management professor and Dr Soumya a physical therapist.
They are a group named Women Beyond Boundaries who wants to enable encourage and empower women drivers and travellers to explore new lands, new strengths in themselves and forge new connections. They say women need to question stereotypes regarding women and their capabilities.
Their journey had a budget of INR 30 lakhs which was sponsored by big names like Mahindra First Choice Wheels, Lenovo India and Via.com. Even the government departments The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Ministry of External Affairs happily helped them for the journey.
To every women they give message that nothing is impossible not even such expeditions. They are thankful for the love and support their family and friends gave them and are also grateful to Indian Government for their immense support.
