Plus size fashion has made its way into the industry and is moving up the ladder, rapidly. The brands are all supporting it to achieve the balance for body-diversity. Many steps have been taken in the recent past to include plus-size fashion in the industry like including plus size clothing in the brands and replacing the tags of 2XL and 3XL with numbers like 2 and 3.
In spite of the growth of this culture, there is a lot of room for improvement and one such space is being filled by the Lakme Fashion week. Last year, they had a plus-size fashion show held by plus size label aLL, the models of which were auditioned through a social media campaign. When the models walked the ramp, it was a big moment for the Indian fashion industry.
Continuing the culture of last year LFW in their ongoing show held yet another show for plus size where the brand aLL presented their collection in collaboration with veteran designer Wendell Rodricks. The collection ‘aLL PRIMERO’ was a mix of asymmetric gowns, swinging dresses, and capes which were adorned with silver heart motifs. Bright colours like orange, pink and green were used.
“There are so many restrictions put on plus size fashion whether there are certain colours that flatter their shape or a fixed silhouette. With PRIMERO, we’re breaking all these myths and prevailing rules and regulations,”
Wendell Rodricks said in a statement.
The show was a success and hopes are high that it will bring more desired changes in the industry.
