Choosing the perfect foundation for yourself can be very tricky. Here’s a few steps that might make it a little simpler.
The right foundation will always disappear on your face- the correct foundation will not only cover blemishes but it also wouldn’t settle into any pores and wrinkles. It should look like you’re not wearing anything at all.
Always try before you buy- there are a lot of makeup products that can be purchased without trying but not foundation. Make sure you’re not wearing any makeup when u do so. Just looking at the shade on the bottle is never good enough. Always try it on your face and not on your wrist (contrary to popular belief)
Skin type- what foundation you pick majorly depends on what type of skin you have. There are all sorts of foundations out there for dry, oily and combination skin. There are a lot of us whose skin type changes with change in weather. It’s important to pick a foundation keeping all this in mind.
For dry skin, you should look for foundations that are hydrating in nature or rich in moisture (cream based)
For oily skin look for words that say mattifying or oil free (powder based)
Combination skin is a mix of both. For most people it means an oily t-zone, rest of the face being dry to normal. A number of companies make products that are cream to powder based suited best for combination skin.
Once you know your skin type you need to decide what kind of coverage you want. Light, medium or heavy. If you have good skin and just need to even out a little bit , light coverage is perfect. If you have a lot of blemishes consider a medium coverage foundation. You can always build upon medium coverage foundations to give you heavier coverage.
