Preparations for the big, fat Punjabi wedding of Cricketer Harbhajan Singh and Actress Geeta Basra are on. “Bhajji” (Harbhajan) will tie the knot with his long-time girlfriend on October 29 in Hotel Club Cabana, Phagwara (Punjab).
Celebrity designer Archana Kochhar has designed the wedding costumes for the couple.
“Geeta wanted an extremely traditional look for all the important occasions, so we decided to go with lehengas, attached dupatta and a crop-top blouse with an Indian work on it,” said Archana Kochhar.
For the Mehendi ceremony, Harbhajan was seen sporting a casual T-shirt, while Geeta chose a pastel coloured lehenga. She wore a yellow lehenga and pink choli with antique silver work. The ceremony took place on Monday.
The Sangeet ceremony took place on Tuesday in the presence of relatives and close friends. Mika Singh and Gurdaas Mann performed on Harbhajan-Geeta’s Sangeet. Harbhajan Singh wore a pink traditional outfit, while Geeta wore a beautiful green lehenga paired up with heavy gold jewellery.
For the Chuda ceremony, Geeta Basra will be wearing an orange lehenga made of ‘Ahimsa Silk’. The dress is said to be a blend of a fish tail skirt with a sheer embroidered crop top.
While Geeta fancies traditional look for her wedding, Harbhajan wants a classic and simple look. “The wedding lehenga will be in traditional red-and-gold combination accessorised by a ‘nath’, a ‘matha patti’ and a ‘tikka’ with a beautiful head dupatta to complete the ensemble.” said Archana Kochhar in a statement.
Harbhajan will wear an off-white embroidered Sherwani on the big day. He will be seen sporting an Achkan with breeches or churidaar, and a turban for the “Anand Karaj” at Gurdwara. He would also carry an ornate red sword.
The wedding reception will be held in a five-star hotel in Delhi on 1st November. Several Cricketers and Bollywood celebrities will attend the reception. The reception lehenga will be in electric blue colour with mirror work and sequins”
