“People will stare. Make it worth their while.” -Harry Winston
Let’s face it; all of us want to look graceful and sexy in a skirt. The choice between wearing a skirt or just sticking to our regular comfort jeans has often found its way up in our heads. Wearing a skirt can sure be dreadful; as getting the whole look right can be a tough task. It wasn’t until recently that I wore a skirt some 5 years after I last wore it, as part of a school uniform.
This was how I pulled off the look but not without a week of carefully putting each piece together.
Skirt, as a garment, has evolved over a period of time and how! They are popular because they are versatile. You could wear a skirt to a strictly formal occasion such as a business dinner, a semi-formal occasion such as a party or to a casual movie and pub night out with your girlfriends or even a brunch. The best part about skirts is that you could look different every single day, wearing the same skirt, if you style it correctly.
So let us see some of the trendy skirts that should definitely find their way up in your closets.
1) The A-Line Skirt
Other skirt styles may come and go, but the A-line seems timeless. These skirts are universally flattering. It is a skirt that is fitted at the waist, gracefully glides away from the hips and widens gradually towards the hem. It is called A-line simply because its shape resembles the letter A. The reason why A-line skirts are so popular and appealing is that it accentuates the waist, camouflaging the other areas (hips and thighs) which make it an easy pick for women of any shape and size.
Here are some looks that I have picked out for you to try.
LOOK 1:You may opt for an elegant vintage style top and team it up with a crisp solid colour skirt. As for the kind of shoes, go for pumps, stilettoes or ankle strap heels. Keep the hair sleek and tidy.
LOOK 2: For the second look, pair up the buttoned down A-line skirt with a bright coloured knitted pullover. Throw in a pair of boots or wedge sandals with a dash of accessories keeping your hair loosely curled and your fashionable day look is complete.
